You can get free real-time quotes from Datek (www.datek.com). You have to fill out an application, and mail it in, but the beauty is that you never have to send them money or place a trade. Datek pays the fees to NASDAQ and the NYSE for you. I filled out my application last september, making me a so-called account holder, but I have never sent them a nickel or placed a trade, and I literally view hundreds (sometimes thousands) of free real-time quotes per day.
