Isn't that just your way DD???

Always answering a question with a question.

But to answer you.... The minute these countries join NATO or the repercussions of their war DIRECTLY THREATEN THE STABILITY of NATO MEMBERS, then I have no problem with becoming involved (except that other NATO partners bear more of the burden than they currently are).

The Serb-Albanian ethnic conflict directly threatens the political stability of the NATO members in Balkans, thus impacting Greece, Turkey, Hungary, and pending members, Bulgaria, and Rumania.

Milo's actions have threatened to permit Islamic extremists to find a footing on the European continent, since if none of the European nations will stick their necks out to defend Muslims, then there is no where else to turn but to the mid-east Muslim countries.

You, DD, look at a problem and say, "well we didn't do anything there, so why are we doing something here?". You would make policy solely on the basis of precedent, not your nation's direct and indirect national interests. We have a DIRECT interest in European stability. An unstable Europe directly impacts our trade, our currency, and would likely involve into something requiring a larger military presence (than even now).

We have an INDIRECT interest in resolving wars in Africa in that we don't have a high degree of trade with them, nor have we a history of fighting two world wars over them.

I have no selective moral outrage. I simply have priorities realizing that I can't fix everything. I'm just as outraged about Eritrea (several people I know are Eritrean and described what is going on there). I was outraged about Ruwanda. I got outraged over Tianinmen square (I had a college buddy who was nearby to that event).

But I can only fix so many things, and one of the things that I care about is European stability so we don't ever have to mobilize our ENTIRE nation again to fight a friggin' conflict in that region again.

So why don't you do me the honor of answering MY QUESTIONS and putting your thoughts on the line and out there for scrutiny, INSTEAD OF JUST RESPONDING TO MY QUESTIONS WITH ANOTHER QUESTION?

Regards,

Ron
