200,000 electric bikes were sold in japan last year and the market is forecast to grow to 1,000,000 a year in Japan by 2001. NIMH batteries are now in three different bikes which I know of, Sanyo, Yamaha, and Honda. Sanyo is producing the battery for their own bike and the Yamaha while Sanoh is producing for Honda. These batteries are under a 3% royalty rate thats 6 times the current consumer rate. Sales of bikes with NIMH batteries have just begun and I don't have any sales figures yet.
