How many Intel chips are in a PalmPilot or a cellular phone? How many of those devices can you buy from Dell? What is AMAT's position in the gallium arsenide market?

I agree that Intel, Dell, and AMAT are all great companies. But so was IBM in its heyday, and Bethlehem Steel in its. Adapting to revolutionary change is hard, and it's not safe to assume that *any* company will do it successfully.
