Well, I am just reading your last post:

" ... ok, why would fujitsu have helped finance the last "infusion" of funds if they weren't going to ride it out or at least believed ross can turn itself around? ..."
I think, that Fujitsu might fit to the second part of your sentence:
"... at least believed ross can turn itself around ..."
Now the good question is, WHY Fujitsu believes in Ross ?
I am trying to find the answer, BUT I SIMPLY DO NOT have any technical information or other details about their future chip generation.
SO HAVING THIS MAJOR LACK of information, I just have the "usual stuff of very general assumption":
Unix market is still growing (or at least representing a substantial part) world-wide. (There are different studies for this from Gartner Group etc.) Within that market the SPARC part is fundamental (and is expected to be so).
One might simply ask: WHY IS IT so sure, that on such a huge market ONLY Sun MicroSystems can have success ? Can they have the ONLY monopoly for ever ? No way !
Just see the examlpe with Cars in 1950's: General Motors had a pretty good market. No Japanese cars at all. Now General Motors has STILL a good market, but the Japanese get also enough of the cake.
Simply new players will come again & again into profitable market segments. That's why Fujitsu still might try it through rtec.
Regards,

Stefan
