I think the businessman in the middle of the Sahara would want data and phone today. I was birding in the Andean foothills in Ecuador in Jan. and would mainly have wanted my Iridium phone to link up to my laptop for stock quotes. That would have been way cool!!!

But they did have lots of internet cafes in Quito.

But you will have to admit the technology is rapidly changing. So it is reasonable to think that the Iridium birds COULD be tweaked for broadband sometime in the future.

I wonder what's going on with Teledesic? Getting those birds up there must be tough.
