TraderEd,

WOW, you bought your first shares of EMC @ $5? that's great! i'm just getting started in individuals. i'm been a mutual fund investor for about five years now, but i'm realizing that with a little hard work and common sense, one can do just as well on their own and save on taxes in the process. i'm glad my money is in an IRA. that way i don't have to worry about all of the tax consequences. if i did, i'd be a different type of investor.

EMC's best percentage gain days may be behind it, but i still expect it to outperform the index and forge ahead. i've done my homework on the stock and like it a great deal, however, if there's ever a reason to trade out i won't hesitate to pull the trigger. i plan on writing covered calls in the meantime for a little extra income.

i appreciate your candid response. it would be nice if we all could just "get along" as they say. EMC is a good stock for BOTH daytraders and LT shareholders alike.

best wishes,
michael
