Interesting from Bloomberg… Bond investors have next week's releases on May manufacturing and employment to gauge the strength of the economy and the outlook for a rate increase. Some say economic evidence in the next few months will prove last month's jump in consumer prices was an aberration. ''The economy will slow and we're just waiting for the indicators to confirm it,'' said Eric Peterson, who helps oversee $550 million at Talon Asset Management in Chicago. ''By the end of the year, yields will be lower'' and, if that happens, ''longer-term securities should do better,'' he said.
