Bill, I do not know if it is still posted, but go over to audioinvestor.com Thereis an interview (hopefully!) of John Jenkins who is Chair and CEO of Tava Technologies. Tava specializes in resolving Y2K problems, especially those found with embedded chips as well as software issues.

The problems with utilities in general (all utilities, not just electrical, but water) per Mr. Jenkins is that utilities generally got a "late start" in addressing Y2K problems. They are fixable- they just take some time to locate and either replace or repair equipment.

Also consider chemical plants and refineries. There the issue will not be complete shutdown, but that one malfunctioning chip that you forgot to replace in your for e.g., cat cracker or alkylation unit the continually malfunctions and causes quality control problems on your end products.....
