Dear Bruce..you make a lot of valid points, most I can't disagree with. But I don't own a gun and I suspect I never will...though I've given it a lot of thought; like what do I do to protect my loved-ones if there's a "home" invasion. Maybe my 31" baseball bat, maybe my 9-iron. Maybe (and this is a long-shot) I talk gently, hope they'll take what they came for and go away. Sadly, most of the gun-toters that you've documented so well are not nice people. They're Nazis (I'm speaking "generic" Nazis) and can be found in many countries, even ours). They've got some pretty heavy ego-problems, they crave power, crave control. They deep-down are afraid...but of course tend to hide this well. They, and this is just my feeling, are folks with rather gaping holes in their buckets...and I'll wager they were badly treated when they were children. Perhaps a generation of parents who love and treat their children with love will go a long way. I suggest another idea; no guns, anywhere. "Zero-tolerance". If I were king for a day I'd make it a crime to make, sell, distribute or possess any kind of gun; including the police in every country. Get caught, you go to jail for 20 years, no parole. Again, it's a tough problem. We all see it, and the solutions, differently. I just wanted to offer you mine. Be well. (Lee) |
