Gang, FYI.... BMCS -- Applicatn Sftwr -- Technology 27-May-99 14:34:25 Shares of BMC Software have outperformed the broader technology market today. The stock is up $1 11/16 to $46 5/8 on moderate volume with block trades accounting for over 45% of all trading today. The reported trade data for I-Watch shows that several institutional brokers have been active in today's session. Montgomery Securities, who often trades on behalf of more aggressive-type institutional investors as a result of its reputation for trading technology stocks, is the most active broker in today's session, booking over 425,000 shares while DLJ is a close second with 400,00 shares. Interestingly, most of the pre-trade activity has been for small amounts of stock - the bulk of the super messages, on both the buy and sell side, have been for 50,000 shares or less (typically these messages are at least 100K). Market makers appear reluctant to commit large amounts of in the volatile markets.
