Richard,

Not likely that you will meet a bear in that situation, and the .38 +P should serve you well. Not a bear gun, but I will certainly respect you when you wear the bulge --VBG

I carry even less than that and a smaller bulge-- A small Browning 380 six shot pocket piece. Well made and easily concealable. I surprised myself the other day by knocking a beer can off a post at about 30 yards. It is a close range weapon, though. Owned one years and years ago that I bought in a pawn shop for $50. Loaned it to a friend who claimed it was stolen--No longer a friend. Cost me about $380 to buy one in the same vvg condition a few years ago. If I see a bear and all I have is the 380, I will just play dead and hope the bear does not find it.

Considering applying for a Class III license--any experience with that? I am certain that it is a hassle in todays environment.

Regards,

Jack
