Speaking of Rambus (no one was, but I thought I'd bring it up): I belatedly noticed that the Pentium III took a whopping 7.8% of the PC market last month ( theregister.co.uk ). K6 had 40%, Celeron 28%). This seems to indicate that the market for RDRAM may not be all that big for quite sometime even if all goes well for the chips, motherboard etc.

The article pointed out that "It's worth noting that the most expensive machine in the top five costs $950, the cheapest just $521." The price elasticity of DRAM is not what it once was folks, as DRAM gets cheaper, they don't put more in, they just lower the price of the box.
