Ref-" Intel has been selling CPUs for $500 for as long as I can remember. Your sarcasm doesn't change the fact that $100 CPUs is a new business for them, and that the whole pricing scale is collapsing. Nor does it change the fact that there are lots of competitors who are perfectly content to sell CPUs for $100."

Sorry, Scumbria. You are dead wrong. For the past 14 years Intel average ASP for CPU's has been $220-$250. The same as it is now. [ Sorry I cannot give you a link, but I have been told that by several Intel people over the years ].
Remember the 486 and 386 started off at several hundred dollars, and eventually ended at less than $50.

So Chicken Little the sky is not falling. Except for a brief episode when AMD fumbled on the K-5 and there was no Pentium competitor," the sky is always falling for Intel ", according to Chicken Little. So Chicken Little we have been through this so,so,so many times.
