If you sell a stock for profit do you have to pay the taxes immediately? or can you pay after certain time? I am asking this out of ignorance so don't get me wrong. That said, if you are allowed to delay the tax payment (legally) then your calculation about trading may be a bit off. I am not saying that it will match anywhere close to that you made by holding EMC. But just curious to know how far apart it will be if we include the above situation. Regards Ramesh
