Thanx Pat. The article was written with about the same knowledge of 56K (maybe a little more) as the average person who buys one would have, this excludes those of us who frequent this thread.

As with any modems...be it a 28.8K, 33.6K or 56K the connect speed is dictated by the condition of the Plain Old Telephone System (POTS), these writers make it sound like calling the modem a 56K modem is the same as making false claims, the negative twist was Mossberg whinning about that.

A 33.6K modem is 4.8K faster than a 28.8K modem. A 56K modem which connects at only 42.6K is 13.8K faster, I see a lot of people saying they are getting 46K & 49K with their x2 modems now...what will they get when the signal is increased?

Btw. I am wondering if MOT doesn't have a working 56K solution or if they have a patent infringement problem.
