Done system testing

1. The stock must be between $20 and $50 and be a good volume stock (all TSE 300).
2. The stock must be up at least $1 on the day
3. The stock must close within .15 of its high for the day
4. The volume must be at least 1.5 times the average volume for 200 days

The results...I tested 35 of my favorite stocks for a two year period. I found 311 trades that fit the above critera.

Average number of trades on each stock per year...4

Number of stocks that gapped up the next day = 65%
Average gap up price - 0.65 (range .05 to $2.40)
Average high on the day - 1.20
On 35% of the stocks the opening price was the high for the day

Number of stocks that gapped down or opened at zero = 35%
Average gap down price = -.35 (range 0 to -$1.85)
Average high on the day = .20
50% of stocks that gapped down ended up trading positive for the day.

So what did I learn from all this???

I found that several of my stocks follow the same similar pattern. In some stocks every time the price fits the above critera they gapped up the next day time and time again (some of them were 15 for 15 for the past 2 years). On the flip side side some were the exact opposite.

Not sure if this info helps anyone but I have been meaning to do this test for over a year and finally got around to it tonight.

Best Regards
KEITH
