Can no more prove it than you can re the Euro - where the problems are more to do with diverse political needs than the reserve make up, on the other haand if they didn't have 15% gold.......?

As for the Maple Leaf Coin launch - guess you were in diapers then - but the effort was said to be promoting the Canadian gold industry (in fact I believe that intial sales were equivalent to the entire annual output and demand was brisk) - not, as you would have it, to get rid of reserve assets. d
