David: IMHO, the real reason most of us are so hot on EDIG is the company's patented MicroOS operating system for FLASH memory cards. These cards will become far more ubiquitous than laptop and desktop PCs. They can store lots (currently up to 128 MB) of rapidly accessible data in a very small unit, but have been hard to tame with regards to actually keeping track of what memory blocks are in use, which may be erased, where the block ends, etc. EDIG has developed (and protected via patents) what, by most accounts, seems to be a superior, very compact, and highly flexible software operating system that makes the rapidly evolving FLASH memory units more practical and efficient for the various applications (music players, digital still/video cameras, palm-sized computers, cell phones, etc.) for which they are being marketed. The EPAC player is only the tip of the iceberg for MicroOS. And you can be sure that MicroOS is not the only widget being produced by EDIG. (There was another outfit that developed a modestly successful operating system for the then-new and underutilized Intel 8088/8086 microprocessor chips and their requisite storage and I/O devices; had you taken a modest position in them in 1984, where would you be now?) Hope that you find this info useful in evaluating the investment potential of this stock. Walter's alternative thread has a post containing a wealth of DD links for EDIG, their competitors and potential customers, and other relevant info. Good luck, Tinroad |
