larry...re charlie rose....was on npt, not sure if rerun, but he did a series on tech, i only caught grove and chambers, i'm sure a transcript might be available...the comments especially about internet delivery were eye opening...basically grove believes usa delivery will be cable, or wire.....because the infrastructure is in place...he feels wire more likely because of prevalence...he made a comment that 80% of the world has never dialed a telephone, so these areas most likely be wireless or satellite...chambers agreed...they determined that as long as government monopolies as in wire and cable exist, it will limit the competition and true growth of the net...he proves his point of recent dsl intros into certain markets...ultimately in the usa, sans government, the consumer will not only have choice of cable or wire, but many suppliers of each...they both feel that in todays world if you don't jump in with two feet, ala armstrong and allen, you will be left behind..capital investment in a "direction"..can make the gamble pay off.... |
