re short term profits
I am an investor: but remember all last year and this year many of the people here have been saying "buy more DELL buy more DELL" etc etc no matter what the price. And many of us are on margin...and it has allowed me to own more DELL and AOL so I wont knock it. But this is a very shaky market and a good time to be out of margin as much as possible.
Sometimes good advice is not good advice across the board or for all situations....e.g. edamo and selling puts: selling puts is great but it is not "found money" as I thought: it also gives you margin calls when the underlying stock goes against you. As I have learned. I know a lot more about stocks, investing, making money, and the stock market than I did a year ago but not without a lot of pain...but its ok I think that's a clear way to learn things.
I have been trying to switch my account to Brown where I would not have had even one margin call!!!!! but Fidelity will not move the account with a margin call on it...catch 22....thus I finally capitulated and took losses where I didnt want to.
But this is not a good time to buy unless you have a lot of cash. If you do, then great! I dont.
