CR Lum,

Try again with your "facts" and do some homework of your own. The R5000 is a part designed by SGI and QED, then licensed to IDT and MTI. IDT has been building the IDT 79R5000 in volume for several customers. NEC licensed this part from MTI, then put a VR in the part number to become a second source for the product. Customers can now migrate their high-end products to this newest processor, while the older processors migrate into mid-range (and higher volume) products. The fact that IDT processors have multiple sources is precisely why many companies choose them over competing architectures.

I believe K's postings are quite accurate and place careful attention on a precise interpretation of real data.
