Raul, just a question , not an argument. Are you a parent?

Participation in trials is an interesting subject. For low or minor improvement improvement prospects, taking years of a subjects time, some negative side effects etc. etc. I can see getting people to sign up as a real problem. I am sure disclosure in a trial is very complete. I still lean to the idea that when bad stuff is happening fast one says, "do whatever you can." Since subjects had to be at a score of 8 or higher and diagnosis may be made sooner in the U.K. it may well have been difficult to find as many cases at this level.

I understand you are not saying difficulties in finding patients meeting trial criteria is the same as finding them and then getting a refusal from the parents, is the same thing. I just think the one problem is one thing and acceptance or refusal to participate is another.

I suppose my over reaction to the subject is due to Murphy's positing of a low mortality rate, as a potential problem. (my words not his).
Thus looking at the 62 to help understand mortality was of interest. If there was a large pool of otherwise qualified subjects that were not able to enter the trial because of refusal by their parents I agree you are correct. But still cannot accept the idea that this would be at all logical. If anything if non qualified people due to ranking lower on the Glasgow scale knew about the trial I would bet there would have been begging and demands and attempted bribes to get included. Always thought this is why one never heard much about the trial in the U.K.
