Good post. I think your comments are well taken. It is amazing to me that folks will short a company they don't understand. Buying long I can understand. After all, one's loss is limited to the amount they invest. Shorts may argue that they can draw a line in the sand, and, well they should, but so many do not. I saw horrendous losses in AMZN and Yahoo!, primarily from people who wanted to put the investments in a box (I know I tried to for a short stint) and speak of such esoteric concepts as "value" and "reasonable price to earnings".

Each time the stock surges we will find folks who will insist that it can go no higher. Trouble is, it can and probably will....

It will likely be the shorts stop losses (those wise enough to put a limit on their conviction) which will lead to the next 10 point surge...and probably soon!
