After the close on June 4th, 1999, Paine Webber Group will join the S&P 500 Index and Sylvan Learning will take Paine Webber's spot in the S&P 400 Mid-cap Index. This is good news for both companies as the large index funds are forced to buy thier stocks.

After the close of trading on June 4, Paine Webber Group (PWJ) will join the S&P 500 Index, replacing Bankers Trust (NYSE: BT), which is being acquired by Deutsche Bank AG. After-school education firm Sylvan Learning Systems (Nasdaq: SLVN) will take Paine Webber's spot in the S&P MidCap 400 Index. - Fool.com
