Martin, You are right. Merced supposed to be out 97/98. Intel began to develop it in 93/94 time frame and ultra_III began around 95/96. It is quite amazing for SUN to come out first and merced might not even go to production at all. What a joke! Sometimes I have the feeling that intel develop merced and microsoft develop window 2000 is like Hitler invaded Russia. It was the beginning of the end of the evil empire. Wintel gonna waste the best of their talent and resource in this development just like Hitler lost the best part of his troop and the morale of his army. While in the mean time it makes SUN ever stronger fighting off the wintel threat just like Stalin eventually rallied his troop by fending off the german war machine.
