Hi, all. Here's an interesting article:

eetimes.com

It's about an upcoming PC-on-a-chip from Intel called Timna that includes a Pentium II-class processor, a graphics controller, and 128 kbytes of L2 cache.

One thing I found interesting was "Meanwhile, it is not yet clear where Intel is sourcing the graphics controller for Timna" and ". . . interfacing any existing graphics core with Rambus would require significant work."

While it's certainly more likely that Intel would use a variant of the i740, ATI has Rambus graphics experience through Chromatics. An ATI core integrated into Timna could be pretty powerful. Interesting to speculate on some things.

Regards,

Mark
