Why do you believe this?

Without optimizations, what do you think the K7 FPU speed will be vis-a-vis the Pentium III ?

If The K7 can't run "fast" until December, I would guess that many, many "potential buyers" would defer K7 purchases until that time - December.

Like, who needs a high heat door stop for 6 months before it turns into something useful?

And besides, come December, there may be some "interesting" alternative CPUs available from "other" x86 CPU suppliers.
