CMOS really made a nice move today - up $2.00 or 7.2 percent. The following is a positive news announcement.

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1999--Credence Systems
Corporation (Nasdaq:CMOS), a leading manufacturer of automatic test
equipment (ATE) for the worldwide semiconductor industry, today
announced an order from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., for multiple
Quartet Series test systems.

Samsung Electronics, a world leader in the electronics industry,
purchased the Quartet systems to test a broad range of electronic
devices. The systems are scheduled for installation in Samsung
Electronics' facilities in Onyang and Kiheung, Korea. This order
represents the first business between the two companies.

The Quartet systems will be utilized by Samsung Electronics to
test high-volume consumer mixed-signal devices for the audio, video
and display markets. Specifically, the systems are being installed for
final testing at the Onyang facility and for wafer sorting at the
Kiheung fab.

"Today we welcome Samsung Electronics, a 'top ten' semiconductor
manufacturer, as a new customer," remarked Dave Ranhoff, co-president
of Credence. "Our relationship with Samsung Electronics represents an
important milestone in the evolution of the test industry. No longer
are companies willing to accept the status quo of increasingly more
expensive test equipment. Credence delivers the value standard in
test, which allows companies like Samsung Electronics to control
manufacturing costs at a time when price competition is increasing."

About Quartet Series

The Quartet Series provides IC manufacturers with a
high-throughput, reliable testing system that maintains margins and
high productivity rates. Unifying a revolutionary digital and memory
test subsystem with Credence's industry-leading audio, video and radio
frequency (RF) instruments, the system seamlessly tests consumer
mixed-signal (CMS) devices. The precise synchronicity of these
instruments, integrated into a single test system, enables the volume
manufacturing of high-performance, CMS devices. CMS is the market
consisting of high-volume cost-sensitive systems-on-a-chip (SOC)
designs.
