Judy, I know the post was meant for OJ but since 75% of my own personal earnings plays (the ones I choose to play from the list) are in options I would say about 75% Earnings Plays are options if not more.. and about 75% of the watch list plays are optionable. The point of the earning plays (i.e. MDT,NTAP,TOM,NEON,INTU) is to be able to plays 2-4 at one time without laying out an exorbitant amount of money. ADCT,CA, plays were both in options, as were MACR, INTU (half & half), CMGI,..
We do however have a certain amount of 'newer' stocks like USIX, CATT, TERN, PAX, RIMM, SCNT, SRNA, NMR that are NOT optionable but they make up about 15-20% of the entire database. Usually within a short time the CBOE would declare options in these plays as well. That has been the case in the past. The watch lists 'choices' are made up from the highest volatile stock group as volatility is one of the criteria of the searches. And the Internet sector (with all its interconnected sectors telecommunications, etc) is represented in at least 25% of every watch list.
Also a good deal of our subscribers are NOT newbies, but some have probably a decade more of experience than I do in the financial field but from another angle (full service brokers from brokerages with limited choices of stock picks) or traders looking to save some time, and individual investors/professionals also looking for something 'new'.. |
