Novell GroupWise Users Get Access To GroupWise Universal Mailbox Through Nokia Digital Cellular Products

Hannover, Germany -- March 13, 1997 -- Today at CeBIT '97, Novell,
Inc. and Nokia Mobile Phones announced that GroupWise users can get
easy, convenient access to information in the GroupWise Universal Mailbox through the Nokia 9000 Communicator and Nokia PC Cards. These digital cellular products make access to GroupWise, Novell's premier collaboration product for intranets, as easy as placing a telephone call or browsing the Internet.
"GroupWise has been tested and proven to work with Nokia's products,
strengthening its position as the most easily accessible collaboration platform available today," said Stewart Nelson, vice president and general manager, Novell Applications Division. "GroupWise users already have a wide variety of options in accessing the Universal Mailbox, and will be among the first to take advantage of Nokia's products to access, share, communicate and act on information anytime, anywhere."
The Nokia 9000 Communicator is a GSM-compatible communications
device which combines digital voice and data services with personal
organizer functions. The compact, easy-to-use Nokia 9000 Communicator
gives GroupWise users a portable, pocketable access point to the
GroupWise Universal Mailbox, from which they can view documents, and
send and retrieve E-mail, voice messages, faxes, appointments, personal notes and tasks. Using the Nokia 9000 Communicator's built-in Web Browser, users can access GroupWise via GroupWise WebAccess, which
allows any user with an Internet connection and HTML- compliant browser to access their GroupWise Universal Mailbox and take advantage of the functionality of GroupWise.
With Nokia PC Cards, users of the GroupWise Remote client can take
advantage of wireless data transmission via digital portable phones to
download and upload E-mail, documents, voice messages, faxes,
appointments, personal notes and tasks. The Nokia PC Cards link a
notebook computer and Nokia phone to the GSM/DCS-1800, Japanese
PDC or PCS-1900 (GSM North-America) network, enabling users to send
and retrieve information regardless of where they are. "Nokia PC Cards will assist GroupWise users in a number of situations, as users will be able to get to their GroupWise Universal Mailbox and access vital, last-minute information wherever they need it, even when no normal phone line is available," said Lubor Ptacek, product director, Novell Europe.
