About DirectPC:
Cant get that here either(apartment), but I've been told that the long round trip through the satellite doesnt make for good data.
Your throughput depends on usage just like cable, but overall there is no way DirectPC is faster than a cable modem.
A nonstop all day connection over satellite would be very expensive too.
