DELL Laptop

I got an Inspiron 7000 as a gift in March. I'm quite pleased with it, though I'm struggling with Win98.

Quite a few calls to DELL for help. Found them quite good to deal with. Delivery came a day earlier than promised.

My system seems heavy. At times I think a desktop system with a UPS would weigh less. The 15 inch screen is a real treat. (No dead pixels) Battery life at 3 hours keeps me from overworking.

For me, getting DVD was a waste. I selected an internal ZIP, but shouldn't have. If I did it over, I'd go for an external CD-ROM burner. I could burn my stuff at home, and take the CD travelling if needed.

I have the 6g drive 1/6 full with Win98, Office, and some utilities. Most of my 'real work' has been ported over from DOS, so it doesn't take much room at all. I have 128m RAM and probably don't need that much either, but I don't really know.

I do know, the system seems like a pretty good replacement for my desktop. The screen looks good, the keyboard has a nice feel, and the case is black, which goes with most of my clothes, and being a gift, the price was right.

Hope this helps, PW.

P.S. Maybe I'll wait and get a DVD burner, due out this fall.
