I don't have a canoe, but sometimes I rent one and paddle around on the Occoquan. I have not paddled on the Potomac yet, but I have rowed around quite a bit on the Potomac, and also dragon boated on the Potomac. I got the Alden hoping to row on the Chesapeake, but have not been brave enough to do that yet! And am hoping to row on the Gulf, too. Don't know if I'll ever be brave enough to row on the Atlantic!! The hard thing about dragon boat is that you do it as a team, so you have to practice to get it right. I think it's probably like rowing sweeps, eventually you get your own place and stay there.
