No, no, i don't change physical keyboards - hey i never play with the wires, they say it leads to blindness ... I always cross myself and perform the ritual with the fizzy amber beverage before so much as pushing the Power [doesn't that send shivers] Button.
No, i mean the keyboard changeover in Win95 ... if you go Settings, Control Panel, Keyboard [Properties], Language ... like that, you find a variety of keyboard setups you can install ready for use down in the right-hand bottom corner of the screen ... i have English (American), which is standard [well, Microsoft is an American outfit, and can hardly be expected to speak properly], and Spanish (Mexican) installed ... to change over, you click the little blue thingie and a choice box pops up, you click your choice and sometimes it changes and sometimes it doesn't ... sometimes the machine seems to need to meditate on your decision until you push the Reset Button and reboot with ScanDisk and the whole dreary ceremony .... there are some wild scripts there in Keyboard Properties - Turkish, Russian, Arabic, etc.
But speaking of switches - do you know if it's possible to get a Y-cable and switch for the phone line? ... the wire inside my magic box which allows the phone to be routed in a bypass when not using the modem seems to be fried ... for a while it made static on the phone, now the phone's dead, i have to unplug the modem at the wall and hook up the phone directly .... it would be nice to have a switch .... even nicer to have two lines, and that's coming, for sure. |
