As pro-Java as I am, I'm not sure that consumer software will make much use of Java for some time (if ever). All you need is what we have now, a small number of dominant platforms. All I'm really hoping will change here is that Linux becomes prevalent enough that people start having that be one of the supported platforms. When I start seeing Linux as a choice in the download menus, then I won't need to use this crappy NT software anymore.
