"Quite simply, we do not harvest web addresses."
That's quite possible. Usually, when addressed are "harvested" from web sites, I get multiple copies of the spam to all of the addresses listed on the site.
My best guess as to where this came from is Internic. It's the address listed as the site contact.
Ring a bell? Trying to get exposure at financial sites? :)
Why not try a more direct and honest approach? Just ask for a link. I expect to get that kind of mail, and don't consider it spam. Don't assume, though, that every financial site wants to be on your mailing list, and receive your wisdom on a regular basis. At least ASK if they want to be on the list.
BTW, I'm pretty amused at the scenario of somebody else thinking I'd be interested, and signing me up. That's something that I'd certainly never consider doing for someone else - in fact, I'd consider it downright rude. Yet, this is the most common excuse I'm given for spam. Probably THE most common excuse, even though it's about the least plausible one.
