Stocksite, SI score #1, #2 in Media Metrix financial "stickiness" rankings.
Media Metrix Financial Web Site Performance Highlights (released 05/25/99):
Avg. minutes spent/month at work:
For the month of March, Stocksite.com ranked #1 in average time spent at work, with 266.8 minutes (4.45 hours); usage was up 166 percent from 12/98. Ragingbull.com was #2, with 182.4 minutes (3.04 hours), up 860 percent from a very small base. Datek.com (in which Paul Allen has just invested) came in at #4 with 74 minutes (1.23 hours), up 54 percent. YHOO Finance was at #5 with 61.3 minutes, up 17 percent from 12/98.
(Now we see why extended trading hours are being rushed into place. (And you thought the Street was enlightened?! Ha!). Employers are being killed by America's love affair with stocks!)
Avg. minutes spent/month at home:
For March, SI (Techstocks.com) ranked #2 in average time spent at home, with 49.0 minutes; usage was up 56 percent from 12/98. Datek.com (Paul Allen) was #1, with 58.1 minutes, up 26 percent from 12/98. Ragingbull.com was #3, with 43.2 minutes, up 91 percent from 12/98.
These results are terrific, as they demonstrate the "stickiness" of GNET's financial sites. In terms of traffic, however, neither SI nor Stocksite appeared among the top 10 financial Web sites (YHOO's #1 at work, AOL's #1 at home). To the extent SI and Stocksite are merged, future results might be (and should be, considering the others are) aggregated, which would improve both GNET's average usage and traffic rankings for its financial sites and further distance GNET from the "competition."
Well done, GNET.
