Hello JJ....

nice to see you here on MGems...super nice group of hard working traders...

i think you're making a smart move joining MG, research & such is so time consuming nowadays..here Jenna has it down pat...

as for options...more and more i'm moving away from them longer term...i'm thinking short...short options..short stocks..in time frame...it's better..

as for selections??? i would take several Earnings Plays 1-2 weeks before the date, and buy ITM(in the money) calls...and sellthem 1-2 days "BEFORE" the actual earnings announcement...OR--when you get 50-100% profit...getting 50% or 100% profit on Option trades is a big number...hard to do...but be quick and nimble...

also you can do options for 1-2 day trades catching bounces off support and such..you have to buy ITM's to get full value for the trade...80% of "ALL" OTM(out of the money) options expire worthless...trust me, i'm a living expamle of that...many times over..

while we here are not basically daytraders...it has become evident to me..that this is exactly what i'm becoming..1-2-3 days max...

i like this hit & run style...not for 1/4's and 1/2's..but for 3-5-10 points in a stock trade...this is powerful stuff...it's more than quick money..it depends on your bankroll, and your risk tolerance...

shares are safer than options..although obviously the leverage is there with puts/calls..i'm liking the feel of trading shares...especially using Jennas picks from her Watch List..i do my own TA using P&F(Point & Figure Charting) on every stock in that list everyday...i set alerts on price and volume, and then look to trade those stocks that "ring my bell"<g>....works for me...

BTW i see your rumaging around on QCharts...i need help..i'm not using this fabulous tool to my best advantage...so lets talk about everything we can, along with SF and others as how best to grasp all these wonderful tools...

anyway..welcome...you'll never regret this decision...

BTW FWIW...there's another Judy that posts here??? so i think "JJ" would be a better choice...the other Judy carries around lumber, so i wouldn't mess with her...:>}

have a wonderful holiday weekend..it's gorgeous here in Philly..
