I developed an upper respiratory infection this week, along with everything else that was going on- or probably because of it- I only get sick when I'm under stress. Antibiotics don't make me that sick, but they do make me lose my appetite. Which is a good thing and a benefit I'd like to keep permanently. CW gets very sick on the cillins and he refuses to take them. I'll remember the yogurt tip.

We are on our way so I only have a couple of minutes- I tried to browse quickly through two hundred posts...noting a little tension. (Not you E, I'm just using this post to respond to it in general) I wish I had time to read them all, but I'll make a couple of observations.

Often when someone joins an established group, there is a brief period of adjustment. Sometimes there is some rubbing of fur the wrong way as strong personalities ( which I think abound here and which are one of the reasons I delight in DAR) meet and explore. I usually never get involved in these things as they work out on their own, but I do think that if people find things escalating, they should just not relate for a little AND they should not refer in third person to the other party, which is really very provocative. LOok for some common ground. Or not. Or avoid that topic and write about something light for a bit. Or at the worst, and this happens, just stay away from that person completely. People who disagree can also become the best of friends eventually. It isn't that we don't talk about politics or religion or those other taboo topics, but that we do it with I think a different set of rules from the other threads. We LIKE each other here. We respect the differences. ANd we focus on that rather than the argument. We take the same attitude that real families take to relatives..."Uncle Freddie is a rabid conservative, but he's really funny and he makes a great gumbo." "Momma penni has dustballs in her house into which small children have been known to disappear, but she will always give you a hug when you're down."

DAR is my safe place. I want it to be that for everyone. So go the extra mile, all you strong-willed and so bright friends.
I leave it in your hands for a week and trust I'll come back to find the place intact.
AS soon as I wrote that I KNEW that Freddy will scream- SHE"S GONE! PARTY!!!!!!

Love you all,
penni
