Is FasTV the next Broadcast.com?

It's one of those ideas that seems so obvious, you wonder why no one thought of it before: a service that lets you search TV programming for news and information just the way you'd search the Internet.

A startup called FasTV Inc. is now offering just such a service, and industry observers so far are giving its technology and concept high marks.

"There are other people who stream video [online], but who wants to sit through an hour show at 28.8 speeds? It's a painful experience," said Bill Swegles, FasTV's president and chief operating officer. "We let you see just the parts you want to see."
