If I had a hundred bucks for every person who's told me they "know" what my "plan", "agenda", or "strategy" is, I'd be a rich woman.

We've explained this before, all of us: we're not Pollyannas. We just like finding things out. It's fun. If as a result some people save money, or--better yet--learn how to do competent research, good. But that's their business.
