Barry - Re: "what would be your view of the mid-2000 $2-3k desktop? Would that be the Willamette?"

Willamette - and its cousin Foster - are being designed to be competitive with high end CPUs in FPU performance as well as Integer. A special chip set - COLUSA - will be part of that solution.

I thing Spec95FPU of 44 -Willamette - and 55+ (Foster) are the target specs.

Willamette design should be finished before this fall with first silicon later this year.

As for DeskTop performance, the Willamette will be a major step up in performance on Pentium /// - and even Coppermine machines, more akin to real Workstation calibre performance - especially Foster.
