These are my problems.

1. I have a laptop and a desktop and a dedicated internet line as well as a regular phone line. Using both computers and both lines, I have problems. The problems are worse in the morning but present throughout the day. 20+ emails and phone calls to Bellsouth.net have not solved the problem.

2. The problems are as follows: impossible to get connected, difficult to get connected, slow to get connected, spontaneous disconnections, and slow speeds even when my computer indicates I'm connected at 44 kbps. I have the problems from home regardles of whether I use Bellsouth.net or ATTWorldnet.

3. I only have this problem from home. The service was flawless from when I first subscribed to Bellsouth.net in Sept. 1997 until April, 1999. My connections to BellSouth.net from my office in a different part of metro New Orleans continues flawless.

4. ADSL began to be advertised for my home area this past winter. I do not know when it became widely available. Cable modems from a competitor only arrived this spring. ADSL service is still not available in my office neighborhood.

5. When I call Bellsouth.net roaming 1 888 # I get a flawless connection from my home every time. Not only that, but the downloads are faster at slower indicated speeds than downloads at faster indicated speeds from my local dial in #. I even have called the local dial in # for a New Orleans suburb (where ADSL is not available) and got the same flawless, higher than indicated speed connections.

6. BellSouth.net keeps telling me I have line noise, but the local BellSouth has checked out the line and tells me it's fine. If I have "line noise" than why don't I have it for the long distance internet access #'s I've used.

7. BellSouth had something called SimpleCellular in early 1998 with cheap cellular service which they discontinued in fall, 1998 offering the option to switch to more expensive BellSouth Mobility. This was obvious bait & switch.

8. Even if no ulterior motives are at play here, I have a right to complain about crappy service. For example today I played musical ISP's back and forth between BellSouth.net and ATTWorld.net at least 20 times in order to get a decent connection. I should not have to do this.

10. An acquaintance with a small local ISP told me BellSouth is always pulling stunts on her to make it difficult.

11. I have a friend a couple of miles away with flawless ATTWorldnet service (butin a different phone exchange) and an exwife about six blocks away with flawless (or so my sons says) AOL service and in the same exchange.

I'm obviously not a telephonics expert. But tell me, is there something fishy going on here? You can imagine my frustrations. Thank god I trade stocks from my office.
