Hi Mary, by your profile, it looks like you're just getting started in stocks.
There are all different ways to analyze a stock, just as there is an analyst for every direction of the market.
My advice: Understand charting on a moderate level, know basic fundamentals (importance of increased revenues, float, etc) and the importance of the psychology of the stock. What that means to others, I don't know, what it means to me, its difficult to put in words. Its just that stocks are like people and have a pyschology about them and if you watch them long enough, you can anticipate their next move if you have any intuition within you. After this level, you'll find yourself going back and improving your Technical and Fundamental expertise, which there is no end. Knowing myself very well, I feed my brain with as much evidence as possible then go with my gut feeling into a trade. It works for me. Some maybe more technical or fundamental.
