Lather, are you seriously asserting that the Northern soldiers did not believe they were fighting for a just cause?

I know that an argument can be made that the Civil War was about all sorts of things besides whether men could own slaves, but certainly for the poor men at the front of the battle fighting for the Union, it was mostly about that.
