Government buying of war stuffs.

War redirected resources. When the war was over the society had to transition to a peacetime economy. The transition slowed existing orientation of factories and labor. The post-bellum North wasn't very impacted by the so-called depression. The depression occurred in the war-destroyed South.

No. The Gould corner panic had no more consequence on economy than did last summer's snafu. The circumstances surrounding the 1907 panic were completely dissimilar to the Civil War or Black Friday. Government had nothing to do with the Panic of 1907. It was just an outcome of rapid growth.
