Hagannah gave orders to Stern and Irgun! That's one of the facts that was clearly revealed by Mr. Sharett in his Diary. Mr. Sharett and his family were some of the first Zionist pioneers in Israel. They were the original idealistic Zionist who moved into Palestine and bought their land from Palestinians. These early Zionist cultivated a very warm friendship with the Palestinian people and were accepted as citizens of their community. Mr. Sharett was one of the first leaders of the Zionist communities prior to l948. He was always a voice of moderation and reason within Hagannah. He became the first Foreign Minister of Israel and the second Prime Minister. He had intimate and complete knowledge of all the hidden transactions of Hagannah and later the State of Israel.
His is Diary is a valuable primary source of detailed historical information on the motives of Zionist actions in their wars and terrorism. The new radical Zionist leaders succeeded in stopping the publication of the Diary for years. Sharett's son finally succeeded in having the diary publish outside of Israel.

As for Hagannah relationship to Stern and Irgun, further proof can be demonstrated by pointing to the political careers of the leaders of Stern and Irgun, Begin and Shamir. Both were elected, with the blessings of Hagannah, to the top leadership position in the newly formed state of Israel.
