WARNING: Sorry for the rant on US political manipulation of gold to float the American market (bubble.com) and the Democrats.

I think that the evolution of this play (ECU) is as good or even better than can be expected under present world market conditions.

While no operation is perfect in the truest sense of the word, some of the big names (e.g. ABX) will hire/place "ex" politicians for/on their boards (e.g. Bush and Mulrooney) because the price of gold is essentially demonatized and is now highly politicized.

The SI thread (Gold Price Monitor) has alluded to the price of gold not doing anything for a couple of years because of politically motivated manipulation by the US, CB's etc.

I hope that GATA can expose the self serving fraudsters soon, because while their activity may not be illegal, it does give one some concern for the moral/ethical basis for its propogation. NOTE: Not dis-similar to the Slick and Monica story (like Bre-X is fading into oblivion), while we can suspect that wifely serviced are/were not being supplied by Hillary because of his past indiscretions, Bill had to satiate his orgistiac nature "on the job". Point being, he (and by association his domestic and foreign allies) will "screwe" anything/anybody if it would help him/them to meet his/their objectives. Let's not talk about WW (l'eau blanche). Isn't power wonderful?
