Mr. Papadopoulos had the audacity, insensitivity and brash
manners to respond to my news post on conditions for Albanian
refugees by making the following reference to the humanitarian
organization in Skopje that our volunteers and Anthony Elgindy
have found to be the most totally legitimate in the country:
>>donations to be stolen by the Albanian Mafia and the KLA
terrorist drug dealers...<<
Mr. Papadopoulos, it is your right to support the Serbs in this
conflict and to mention any pro-Serbian group organizing marches
against the bombing, but you damn well know by now that ours is
NOT a political organization, that we are collecting eyewitness
accounts on what life is like for the refugees, and that the last
thing on earth these people or our selfless volunteers need is your
disinformation campaign as to what we are trying to do. You plant
an idea of corruption such as the above, and it will take hold
somewhere. I have stated many times that if I were able, I would
gladly donate to any organization providing aid to Serbian
children.
None of our donations are stolen by the Albanian mafia or KLA,
as people we know and trust go and buy food themselves. If
contributions to Mother Tereza were being stolen, they would not
be able to feed the 41,000 people they are keeping alive.
I've read enough and watched my best friend suffer enough from
what he's seen over there to feel temper near the surface when a
total jackass such as Mr. Papadopoulos dares to undermine what
we are trying to do.
